I had no desire to be used in the hall. I saw privileges as something to be avoided as they could be withheld as punishment. Sometimes I was a student of the m. school and sometimes not. The Elders needed an appointment to visit me as they were never my friends. My meeting attendence was my decision as was my answering and field service. I hardly ever wore a jacket and didn't own a suit and had a beard. I have a clear conscience of my conduct before God. I think I was probably viewed as weak.

Only Baptised JW's make it through Armageddon
by ForbiddenFruit ini remember the day that i first found out about this teaching.
it was during a co's visit, he got up on the platform, and made it absolutely clear that the only way to get into paradise was to be a baptised jw (he had a letter from the borg saying this).
i was confused by this, and the next day i was set to work with him in the ministry.

I understood that you needed to have your robes washed white in the blood of the lamb in baptism. In Pauls theology justification through baptism allows for sanctification which allows you to be holy. You must be holy as God is holy.

An outside source from 1969 regarding the 1975 teaching!
by lepermessiah ini have posted on here a couple of times that i am reading alan rogerson's excellent book entitled "millions now living will never die.".
this book was published in 1969. notice what mr. rogerson (a non-jw) observed in his research.. .
jehovah's witnesses do not expect the literal destruction of the.

In the book "God's Eternal Purpose Now Triumphing For Man's Good" Published in 1974 and studied at the bookstudy 14th Jan 1975. Page 51 The subheading "Evening" of seventh Creative "day" begins, 4026 B.C.E. Page 131 Subheading "Morning" of seventh Creative "day" begins, 526 B.C.E.
Which seemed to leave little room for Armageddon to come later than 1975 if you retain the belief in the 7000 year creative days.

Jehovah and the Munchausen Syndrome
by Terry inwhat is munchausen by proxy syndrome?.
one of the most harmful forms of child abuse, munchausen by proxy syndrome was named after baron von munchausen, an eighteenth-century german dignitary known for telling outlandish stories.
a parent will induce illness or injury in their own child and then take the victim in to the hospital to be seen as the heroic savior.. typically, the perpetrator feels satisfied when he or she has the attention and sympathy of doctors, nurses, and others who come into contact with him or her and the child.. because the parent or caregiver appears to be so caring and attentive, often no one suspects any wrongdoing.. .

My kids never had a problem not eating the fruit that grows in our garden even when they were very young. Adam chose to eat something he was told would kill him. If God had allowed Adam to live. God's word would have meant as little as the Watchtower. But in his great love and kindness he made away out for us. Of course without God we can live this short existence and die, nothing to stop us choosing that.

How did 1975 effect your family? here's mine...
by Aussie Oz ini just spent a few days with my dad.
i asked a few questions about the time when mum became a witness which i know is still, 38 years later, a painful thing for him to talk about.
in the course of it, he also learned some stuff that he did not know about the pressures of the times.. as i expected, mum and dad have different versions of this time, and it is pretty hard to find the real truth in it and in some ways it does not matter anymore.. mums version: she first was contacted in echuca late 1960s and dad put a stop to it.

I dropped out of high school to regular pioneer. In my sophmore year, my last year, I arranged my schedule with alot of art classes (I was good, the teacher allowed me to have a class room to myself, needless to say I abused the privilege, but it meant i had little homework) Two afternoons a week because of my schedule I could take off and join my brother in field service. I was a crap pioneer. I had little knowledge and little enthusiasm. My greatest accomplishment being, I made another pioneer sister laugh and she recently told me it was the funniest day of her life. She was drop dead gorgeous.
Because we believed in 1975. When nothing occurred we still felt it was still imminent. This generation will by no means pass away. How many times my mother told me how lucky she felt that she would never grow old. How many times I thought my end was so near.
We always lived as "strangers and temporary residents in the land" Now I'm paying the price.
It has always irritated me when some talk is given and the brother mocks those who believed in 1975. "We thought" this, as if we came up with our own thoughts. We were told these things, we were mislead.

Why believe in the SUPERNATURAL?
by Terry inwhat is meant by the supernatural?
supposedly, a realm that transcends nature.. what is nature?.
nature is existencethe sum of that which is.. it is usually called nature when we think of it as a system of interconnected, interacting entities governed by law.. so nature really means the universe of entities acting and interacting in accordance with their identities.. what, then, is super-nature?.

No Terry,
This is a group of people over months. Do you want to be pushed over by a headless thing in the dark as you turn out the light?

I believe in the supernatural because of experiences. Dead things that fly. Headless things that push past you in the dark. Windows that open and something comes down the stairs. The front of your house disappears. Babies that don't want to enter the house. Lights that are switched off when you switch them on. The chill.

When I was young I used to count the bricks in the wall and the ceiling tiles then try getting to the bottom of the watchtower page through the type without touching any type. If that failed then it was make my older brother laugh which was quite easy but usually resulted in me being in some serious trouble with my father.
In my teens it was fantasizing about the gorgeous young sisters in the congregation. After I was baptized and used to open the service meeting, say pray read the watchtower ect. i remember thinking "God! I'm going to have to be an elder one day" I really didn't want to be.
As an adult I continually found fault with the hypocrisy of the meetings and would often end up outside or sitting in the car. This went on for years until I found a shaft of light.
